Dr Sophie Robinson is Flying Qualities Manager for Vertical Aerospace, an eVTOL manufacturer based in Bristol. In her role, she is responsible for leading the team developing the Flight Control Laws, aircraft performance prediction and Vertical’s pilot in the loop simulator. She holds a PhD in rotary wing simulation and modelling from the University of Liverpool, with a focus on handling qualities. She has worked as a flight physicist for several organisations in the UK and Europe in both the flight test and certification environments, and as a tutor at the Empire Test Pilots’ School. Outside of engineering, she is a keen open water swimmer, an amateur printmaker and enjoys traveling to places her mother would rather she stay away from.
