Meryl Wingfield

Meryl is a sustainability leader, working at the heart of businesses transforming to help tackle climate change and biodiversity loss. She is currently the Head of Natural Climate Solutions Strategy & Sustainability at bp leading on the strategic direction to support scaling markets for certified natural climate solutions that help the world reduce deforestation, get to net zero and deliver environmental and social benefits. She’s been at bp for 16 years and most recently led on defining bp’s sustainability aims to “care for our planet” covering biodiversity, water, nature-based solutions and circular economy. Prior to that she was part of the founding team defining the future strategic direction for bp in mobility. She then moved into bp’s first acquisition in electric mobility – bp pulse – initially leading on strategy and then as Chief Technology Officer. Meryl has a MSt in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge and a MSci in Chemistry from Imperial College. She’s a member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and a chartered environmentalist. She’s also a trustee of her local repair café putting the circular economy into action in the community. She drives a Hyundai Kona EV. Meryl Wingfield
